President Tinubu encourages Nigerians in U.S. to embrace success mindset
In a Presidential Townhall Meeting with Nigerians in the diaspora on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, President Bola Tinubu urged Nigerians in the U.S. to adopt a mindset of success and rise above failures in their endeavors.
He emphasized that Nigerians have no reason to be poor but acknowledged leadership challenges.
Tinubu commended efforts to address issues such as out-of-school children, healthcare programs, and poverty eradication, stating that Nigeria is a blessed country. Reflecting on his own journey to success, he encouraged aspiring leaders to overcome hurdles and pursue their goals with determination.
As a former diaspora himself, Tinubu stressed the importance of a change in mindset, highlighting Nigeria’s abundant business opportunities. He encouraged Nigerians to explore opportunities both in their host countries and back home.
The President expressed pride in Nigerians excelling in their chosen fields abroad and encouraged unity among them, emphasizing the need to eliminate ethnic divisions. He reminded them that they are one family living under the same roof but in different rooms.
During the event, Nigerians who have excelled in various fields in the U.S. were introduced to the President. They praised his leadership and pledged support for his efforts to reform Nigeria. These accomplished individuals also promised to continue making their home country proud and contribute to its development.
Additionally, Nigerian-American elected into the U.S. Congress, Oye Owolewa, highlighted the economic opportunities available to the black community in the U.S., pledging support for their empowerment. Olufunmilola Obe, an Inspector in the New York Police Department and the first African ever to be promoted to that rank, shared her efforts to make Africa and Nigeria proud in her role.
The Townhall Meeting was attended by key Nigerian officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar; Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; and the Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the UN, Amb. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande.
