Ghanaian man returns 100,000 GhC (N6.48m) found in taxi

In an extraordinary display of honesty and integrity, a Ghanaian unemployed man recently made headlines when he returned a substantial sum of money he discovered inside a taxi he had boarded at a petrol station along the Nima/Abossey Okai route.

The incident has captured the attention of the nation, showcasing the remarkable character of the man.


According to a report, the 37-year-old man, whose name is yet to be disclosed, embarked on this remarkable journey when he decided to board a cab from a filling station in Nima, destined for Abossey Okai in Accra, Ghana.

“During the journey, the man noticed a polythene bag discreetly placed in the backseat of the taxi,” A report unveiled.

It was further reported that rather than succumb to the temptation of keeping the significant amount of cash, the man made a noble decision.

He opted to visit the Adom 106.3FM radio station, one of Ghana’s most prominent media outlets, with the intention of reuniting the money with its rightful owner.

Inside the polythene bag, he discovered not only the substantial sum of 100,000 GhC (equivalent to approximately N6.48 million) but also an identification card and a key.

When questioned about his choice to return the money, particularly in light of his own unemployed status, the man displayed unwavering principles and integrity.

He explained that his actions were guided by the moral values instilled in him from a young age.

“It doesn’t align with my principles, as that isn’t how I was raised,” he remarked.
