In a devastating turn of events, the manhunt for the suspect responsible for a series of fatal shootings in Memphis, Tennessee, concluded with the discovery of his lifeless body, the apparent result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The authorities identified the deceased suspect as Mavis Christian Jr.


The harrowing incident unfolded across three separate locations in Memphis, claiming the loves of three women and an adolescent girl, with another young girl sustaining critical injuries.

The Memphis Police Department received the first report of the shooting at 9:22 p.m. local time, leading officers to a residence where a woman was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Further investigations revealed two additional connected fatal shootings. At Field Lark Drive, a woman and a 13-year-old girl were killed, while a 15-year-old girl suffered critical injuries.

Another fatality occurred on Warrington Road, where a woman was found fatally shot. Officer Christopher Williams of the Memphis Police stated that all three incidents were believed to be related to domestic violence.

The Memphis Police, in collaboration with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, initiated a manhunt for Mavis Christian Jr., the suspected perpetrator.

This joint effort aimed to swiftly locate and apprehend the individual responsible for the tragic spree.

Early on Sunday morning, officers discovered Christian inside a white Chevrolet Malibu parked in the 3000 Block of Alta Road.

The suspect was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:31 a.m. Authorities expressed gratitude for the collaboration between law enforcement, the community, and the media, emphasizing that the quick resolution prevented additional loss of life.

In an official statement, the Memphis Police conveyed, “Through the collaborative effort between law enforcement, the community, and the media, the suspect was located quickly without the additional loss of lives.

“Thanks to our local, state, and federal partners who assisted in investigating and locating this suspect. We appreciate your cooperation and assistance.”
