Devastating fire in Cameroon leaves 30 injured, 300 shops damaged

In a tragic incident that unfolded last evening, a fire outbreak in Bamenda, Cameroon, has left at least 30 people injured, and approximately 300 shops have been reported as damaged, according to North West Governor Adolphe Lele L’Afrique.

Governor L’Afrique, who visited the site twice to assess the extent of the damage, assured the affected residents that the government would provide support. However, this assistance would only be extended after a thorough evaluation by a special commission, aimed at determining the full scope of the losses incurred.

While those admitted to the hospital are reportedly out of danger, the local traders affected by the blaze have raised concerns about the obstruction of pedestrian tracks.

They argue that this has significantly hampered accessibility, exacerbating the challenges faced in the aftermath of the fire.

The fire, whose origin is yet to be determined, has cast a shadow over the bustling commercial district of Bamenda.

The governor’s commitment to aiding the victims provides a glimmer of hope amid the grim aftermath of the incident. As the community grapples with the aftermath, attention turns to the upcoming evaluation by the special commission and the collaborative efforts required to rebuild the affected areas.
