President Barrow praises Gambia-Senegal ties, calls for continued unity under new Senegalese leadership
In a testament to the enduring bond between The Gambia and Senegal, President Adama Barrow returned from Senegal’s historic inauguration ceremony for its fifth President, H.E. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, with resounding words of unity and collaboration.
Speaking to reporters upon his arrival at Banjul Airport, President Barrow underscored the significance of maintaining peace and fortifying the longstanding relationship shared between the two neighboring nations.
“We are one family and one people, so I expect us to build on that and nothing less,” emphasized President Barrow, highlighting the deep-rooted connection that transcends geographical borders.
Reflecting on the democratic process that culminated in the election of President Faye, President Barrow commended the role of robust institutions in upholding the will of the Senegalese people.

Meanwhile, the inauguration ceremony held at the Exposition Center in Diamniadio witnessed solemn pledges from President Faye to foster reconciliation and engage in collaborative efforts with neighboring countries and international institutions for the betterment of Senegal and its people. The event, presided over by the President of the Senegalese Constitutional Court, drew a distinguished audience comprising Heads of State and Government, diplomats, and representatives from across Senegalese society.
