In a major step toward addressing housing insecurity, the Moroccan government has launched the Direct Housing Aid Program, which has already provided assistance to over 15,100 citizens.

This milestone was announced by Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, Minister of National Territorial Planning, during a session of the House of Councillors on Tuesday.

The program, which began on January 1, 2024, is designed to run for five years. It aims to support Moroccans, both within the country and abroad, who do not own property and have never received housing assistance.

Eligible individuals can access government contributions to purchase their own apartments, a move that seeks to significantly improve living conditions for vulnerable populations.

According to reports, the initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance social welfare and promote homeownership. The program is expected to play a crucial role in reducing homelessness and providing stability for thousands of families across Morocco.

Minister El Mansouri emphasized the program’s significance in fostering economic stability and social inclusion, highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting its most vulnerable citizens. As the program progresses, it is poised to make a substantial impact on the country’s housing landscape, offering hope and security to many in need.
