Gambia Police Force launches week-long media training to strengthen police-community relations
In an effort to enhance public engagement with police activities and improve crisis communication, the Gambia Police Force (GPF) Press Unit, in collaboration with the GIZ Police Programme, has commenced a week-long media training at the prestigious Bakadagi Hotel.
The training, which began on Monday, July 22, 2024, aims to equip attendees with essential public relations skills.
Conducted by the renowned West Africa Broadcast & Media Academy (WABMA) from Nigeria, the sessions will focus on crisis communication strategies and techniques for fostering effective communication between the police and the community.
The training is not limited to GPF personnel, as selected members of civil society organizations (CSOs) have also been invited to participate. These CSOs are recognized as vital stakeholders in police reform.
The Gambia Police Force is dedicated to working hand-in-hand with partners and stakeholders to advance police reform and build stronger relationships with the community.
This week-long media training is a significant step towards achieving these goals.
