GAF State Guards Battalion involved in fatal road accident
The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) is saddened to announce a tragic road traffic accident that occurred on Thursday, August 15, 2024, involving personnel from the State Guards Battalion stationed at Mankamang Kunda.
The incident took place while the soldiers were on a mission, traveling in their vehicle, SG00060, when it collided with a commercial vehicle, resulting in a severe crash that caused the vehicle to somersault between Bakadaji and Sareh Sambel in the Upper River Region.
This unfortunate accident claimed the life of a Corporal, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Additionally, three other soldiers sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment at the Basse Medical Facility.
The GAF extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and expresses heartfelt prayers for the eternal peace of the fallen soldier. The organization is also hoping for the swift recovery of the injured personnel, who are receiving the necessary care.
