Chadian president launches operation to secure region after deadly attack
Following a tragic attack on a Chadian Defense and Security Forces base that left around 40 soldiers dead, President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno has initiated a new military operation to restore safety and stability in the region.
The assault took place late on Sunday, October 27, on the island of Barkaram, located west of Ngouboua in the Kaya department, Lac Province.
President Deby, in his role as Head of State and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, promptly visited the site early this morning to assess the situation firsthand.
While there, he paid tribute to the fallen soldiers and extended his sympathies to the injured, emphasizing his support and commitment to boosting the morale of the country’s forces.
The newly launched operation, named “Haskanite,” aims to pursue those responsible for the attack and secure the affected area.
President Deby’s swift response underscores his firm commitment to national security and his dedication to defending every part of Chad from threats.
He assured both the local population and the nation’s Defense and Security Forces of his resolve to protect the entire country.
The Deputy Director-General of Communication, Madame Ali, issued the announcement, reaffirming the government’s focus on safety and resilience in the face of adversity.
