Super Eagles set to qualify for 2025 AFCON with Benin match
The Nigerian national football team, the Super Eagles, is on the brink of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) following a critical match against Benin in Abidjan on November 14, 2024.
Nigeria only needs a draw to secure their spot in the tournament set to take place in Morocco. This qualification comes after a series of strong performances, including their impressive victories in the qualifiers.
Captain William Troost-Ekong expressed optimism ahead of the match, emphasizing the importance of securing qualification and the team’s readiness to face the challenge posed by the Benin squad. “We’re excited and focused on getting the result we need,” Troost-Ekong stated in a pre-match interview​​​​.
