Chinese PLA University delegation visits Nigerian Army headquarters to foster military cooperation
In a move set to deepen bilateral military relations, the Nigerian Army welcomed a distinguished delegation from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Defence University to its headquarters in Abuja on Friday, December 13, 2024.
Led by Rear Admiral Hu GangFeng, the visit marks a significant milestone in fostering mutual cooperation between the two nations’ armed forces, particularly in the fields of military training and education.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, was represented by the Deputy Chief of Training (Army), Major General Etsu-Ndagi, who addressed the delegation.
In his remarks, Major General Etsu-Ndagi underscored the Nigerian Army’s extensive experience in tackling terrorism and insurgency, emphasizing how strategic, adaptive operational strategies have been crucial in the country’s counter-terrorism success.
He highlighted the effectiveness of the Nigerian Army’s sustained training and equipping of its personnel, which has played a pivotal role in diminishing the influence of terrorist groups and significantly reducing security threats.
Rear Admiral Hu GangFeng, in his address on behalf of the Chinese delegation, reiterated China’s strong commitment to enhancing international military cooperation.
He emphasized the importance of shared knowledge and mutual learning between the two military institutions. Rear Admiral Hu pointed out that the delegation, which included representatives from various military services and theatre commands, is eager to engage in discussions to exchange ideas and solidify a long-lasting partnership.
The visit aims to bolster both nations’ defense capabilities and explore new avenues for collaboration in training, education, and strategic military operations.
