Ghana’s election offers blueprint for credible polls in Africa

Former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has commended the 2024 Ghanaian presidential election, describing it as a model for conducting credible elections across Africa.

Fayemi praised John Mahama, the president-elect from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), on his victory and lauded Mahamudu Bawumia, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, for his gracious concession.

Fayemi highlighted Ghana’s electoral process as a demonstration of democratic maturity, emphasising the supremacy of the people’s will and the importance of political actors prioritising national unity over personal ambition.

He called on other African nations to emulate Ghana’s example to strengthen democratic values and ensure peaceful, transparent elections.
