President Barrow pays tribute to late US President Carter at Fajara Residence

His Excellency, President Adama Barrow, on Thursday morning visited the United States Ambassador’s residence in Fajara to sign the condolence book for the late President Jimmy Carter.

Reflecting on Carter’s legacy, President Barrow described him as a leader who left an enduring mark on global peace and human rights. “President Carter was not just a leader but a global peacemaker whose efforts to foster peace, democracy, and environmental sustainability will never be forgotten,” Barrow said during the visit.

The late Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, was instrumental in brokering historic agreements such as the Panama Canal Treaty and the Camp David Accords, which established peace between Egypt and Israel. He also played a key role in resolving the Iran hostage crisis, earning international acclaim.

In 2002, Carter received the Nobel Peace Prize for his tireless commitment to promoting peace and advancing democracy and human rights. He was also a renowned environmentalist, pioneering comprehensive energy and environmental legislation that remains relevant today.

Barrow highlighted Carter’s exceptional contributions, stating, “His leadership demonstrated the transformative power of diplomacy and compassion in addressing global challenges. His work will continue to inspire future generations.”
