Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, on Monday afternoon, formally swore in newly appointed commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and members of the Board of the Code of Conduct Bureau at the State House in Abuja.
The ceremony marks a significant step in reinforcing key democratic institutions as Nigeria gears up for future electoral and governance reforms.
Speaking at the event, President Tinubu charged the appointees with a solemn responsibility to uphold integrity and diligence in the discharge of their duties.
“This afternoon, I swore in the newly appointed Independent National Electoral Commission commissioners and members of the Board of the Code of Conduct at the State House in Abuja,” he stated.
The President underscored the critical roles the two institutions play in shaping Nigeria’s democratic trajectory and governance landscape.
“I encourage them to uphold the highest standards of integrity in their roles and actively contribute to the advancement of both organisations,” Tinubu said, adding that “their efforts will play a crucial role in enhancing the effectiveness of our electoral processes and promoting accountability, ultimately benefiting our nation as a whole.”
With the appointments now formalised, the new INEC commissioners and Code of Conduct Bureau board members are expected to immediately begin work in line with the administration’s focus on credible elections and ethical public service.
