Nigeria: Troops Eliminate 24 Boko Haram Fighters in Weeklong Offensive Operations

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), hunters, and with close air support from the Nigerian Air Force, conducted a series of coordinated offensive operations between 4th and 9th July 2025, successfully neutralizing 24 Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents and recovering a cache of weapons and supplies.
According to a statement signed by Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, the operations covered key flashpoints including Platari, Komala, Kawuri, Madarari, Leno Kura, Ngoshe-Gava, Sabsawa, Bula Marwa, Pambula, Tangalanga, Ngailda, Manjim, and Wulle villages.
At Platari, troops laid an ambush targeting terrorists moving from Sambisa Forest to the Timbuktu Triangle. “The terrorists were immediately subdued with heavy fire, leading to the neutralization of 3 terrorists,” the statement said.
In Komala, another ambush led to the death of 1 insurgent, with recovered items including motorcycles, sprayers, and food items.

Troops intercepted terrorists attempting to breach the Madarari IDP camp in Konduga. “The troops swiftly engaged the insurgents, killing one terrorist,” the Army said. Several rounds of ammunition were recovered.
On July 6, troops carried out a night ambush at crossing points along Ngoshe-Gava and Amuda-Gava, killing 1 insurgent.

Troops, alongside CJTF and with air cover, cleared Bula Marwa, a known ISWAP enclave. “The troops eliminated an insurgent and recovered a gun and terrorists’ uniforms, while their life-supporting structures were totally destroyed,” the Army said.
In Pambula village, Madagali LGA of Adamawa State, another patrol led to the death of 1 terrorist and the recovery of four motorcycles and a weapon.

Also on July 9, coordinated ambushes in Ngailda, Manjim, and Wulle villages resulted in the elimination of 6 terrorists. Recovered items included motorcycles and bicycles.
Captain Kovangiya affirmed the military’s resolve: “The neutralisation of 24 insurgents with close air support underscores the determination, collaboration, and concerted efforts by the troops of OPHK to ensure terrorists are placed on the back foot, thereby creating a conducive environment for socio-economic activities to thrive in the North East region.”
