{"id":2364,"date":"2023-01-09T15:50:41","date_gmt":"2023-01-09T15:50:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africaparrot.com\/?p=2364"},"modified":"2023-01-09T15:50:43","modified_gmt":"2023-01-09T15:50:43","slug":"who-was-cheikh-anta-diop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/africaparrot.com\/index.php\/2023\/01\/09\/who-was-cheikh-anta-diop\/","title":{"rendered":"WHO WAS CHEIKH ANTA DIOP?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Cheikh Anta Diop, born on December 29, 1923 in Thieytou, was a Senegalese scholar and important African historian who largely contributed to the overhaul of African historiography freed from Euro-centric precepts.<\/p><div class=\"afric-content\" id=\"afric-4084250731\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.schools.nyc.gov\/hello?utm_source=ecm-digital&#038;utm_medium=cpc&#038;utm_campaign=lac-dex-2026&#038;utm_content=french\" aria-label=\"French&#8212;300&#215;250\"><img src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/africaparrot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/French-300x250-1.gif?fit=300%2C250&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\"  class=\"no-lazyload\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\"   \/><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Egyptologist, anthropologist, ethnologist, sociologist, Pan-Africanist politician in favor of an African federal state, he left for France at the age of 23 where he studied. Passionate about Egyptology, he claimed in a doctoral thesis at the University of Paris that ancient Egypt was a Negro-African civilization. Thesis which was refused to him. He will obtain his doctorate in 1960.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, he publishes his demonstration theses in his famous work &#8220;Nations N\u00e8gres et Culture&#8221;, considered today as the historical testament of Africans, among the many other works he has published. In 1974, with the Egyptologist Th\u00e9ophile Obenga, he participated in a symposium in Cairo to demonstrate his thesis Considered as the founding fathers of the epistemological current that is Afrocentricity, he is undoubtedly the greatest scholar of all time.
