The congregation of the Masjid at Ta’awun of African Islamic Center and the entire neighborhood Muslims have held a funeral prayer for the late Imam Mouhamadou Cisse of Masjid At Ta’awun of African Islamic Center in Parkchester, the Bronx.

This was disclosed by one of the leading Muslim figures in the New York City, Sheikh Musa Drammeh via his Facebook page on Thursday March 16, 2023.

According to Drammeh, the late Imam was known to be one of the founding imams and the resident caretaker of the Masjid.

“He came from a noble, religious family that is highly respected by the Senegambians,” Drammeh revealed.

He added, “They are well known Islamic scholars and teachers who propagate Islam and the importance of knowledge.”

He stated that the background accounted for why all the children of Imam Cisse’s are scholars and the sons memorized the Holy Quran.

“Imam Cisse was so traditional that he didn’t have much use of modern technology.”

The overflowing crowds indoors and outdoors at the funeral today for someone who didn’t have any connections to social media platforms spoke to the impact he had in New York and in the Senegambia.

The entire congregation prayed to Allah (The maker) to accept him and grant him Jannatul Firdawsi.
