Explosions rock Khartoum as war for power rages on in Sudan

On Wednesday morning, strong explosions have rocked Khartoum on the 26th day of the war for power in Sudan between soldiers and paramilitaries, without any humanitarian corridor having so far been approved by the negotiators of the two camps.

As reported by witnesses in different neighborhoods of the city, no humanitarian corridor has been approved by the negotiators of the two camps despite ongoing talks in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The conflict, which began on April 15, has already left more than 750 dead and 5,000 injured, with nearly 150,000 refugees fleeing to neighboring countries and more than 700,000 internally displaced people in Sudan.

The head of the UN for humanitarian affairs, Martin Griffiths, proposed a declaration of principle to the two parties to guarantee the passage of humanitarian aid, but so far, no announcement has been made.

The civilians who remain in Khartoum are barricaded in their homes without water or power, with almost dry food stocks and less and less cash.

The putsch of Generals Burhane and Daglo had ousted civilians from power in 2021, and two years earlier, the army had agreed to dismiss dictator Omar al-Bashir under street pressure, who had been in power for 30 years.
