In a groundbreaking achievement for aviation, a Senegalese female pilot has made history, as reported on Friday, June 10, 2023.
According to the report, Khady Djibril Ndiaye-Wooden successfully executed a historic landing with Delta flight DL216 at Dakar Blaise-Diagne airport.
It was reported that the Senegalese pilot, OPL Khady Ndiaye-Wooden, created history on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, by being the woman in command, as Pilot-in-Command (PIC), of Delta Air Lines’ flight DL216 from New York to Dakar.

The report highlighted the significance of this milestone, stating that the symbolic flight marks the first occasion in Senegal’s history where a female pilot of Senegalese descent commands a commercial airline aircraft.
“The Senegalese, OPL Khady Ndiaye-Wooden made history this Wednesday, June 7, 2023 as a woman pilot on PIC command of this flight DL216 of Delta Air Lines from New York to Dakar,” the report unveiled.
It added, “[It is] A symbolic flight since it is the first time in Senegal’s history that a woman pilot of Senegalese origin is at the command of a commercial airline plane.”
