Allaho aims for glory in King George VI chase

Allaho, after overcoming a rare spleen complaint that sidelined him last season, seeks to secure a historic third victory for acclaimed Irish trainer Willie Mullins in the esteemed King George VI Chase at Kempton Park this Tuesday.

Allaho, a two-time Ryanair Chase winner, made a triumphant comeback this term, clinching the Clonmel Oil Chase and setting the stage for a compelling showdown in what is considered the second most prestigious race over jumps, trailing only The Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Facing five formidable rivals, including defending champion Bravemansgame and the enigmatic Shiskin, Allaho’s bid for glory adds a layer of anticipation to an already intriguing contest. Shiskin, described as a “bit of a plonker” by trainer Nicky Henderson, brings an element of unpredictability, having refused to start in his last race at Ascot.

Willie Mullins, at 67, exudes confidence in Allaho’s readiness, citing his satisfactory performance in November’s win as a positive indicator for the King George.

Assistant trainer Patrick Mullins anticipates a strong showing from the favorite, acknowledging the challenge of returning from a year off the track.

Defending champion Bravemansgame, under the guidance of trainer Paul Nicholls, aims for a record-extending 14th win in the race.

Despite a less-than-ideal showing in the Grade One Betfair Chase in November, Nicholls remains optimistic about Bravemansgame’s affinity for Kempton’s track, labeling it almost a “home game” for the seasoned contender.

Shiskin, with a lingering question mark due to his recent reluctance to start, hopes to bounce back under Henderson’s guidance.

The 73-year-old trainer expresses confidence in Shiskin’s potential, emphasizing the horse’s ability to run well in the King George despite being a somewhat overlooked contender.

As the anticipation builds for the King George VI Chase, fans and enthusiasts await a spectacle that could see Allaho etch his name further into racing history or witness a surprise resurgence from the likes of Bravemansgame and the enigmatic Shiskin.

The Kempton Park racecourse braces for a clash of titans in this thrilling renewal of one of jump racing’s most prestigious events.
