President Barrow inaugurates facilities at Gambian university

The Gambian President, Adama Barrow, has etched its name in history with the official inauguration of Lot 1 of the University of The Gambia.

The grand ceremony took place at Faraba Banta village, where a magnificent edifice for Higher Education now stands proudly.


Lot 1 boasts a state-of-the-art infrastructure housing the Schools of Education, Information Technology and Communication, Arts and Science, and Business and Public Administration. Additionally, the impressive Dr. Badara Alieu Joof Library graces the university campus.

The collective capacity of the four Schools is nothing short of remarkable, accommodating nearly 3600 students.

Furthermore, the library, named after the esteemed Dr. Badara Alieu Joof, has the capacity to cater to 800 students simultaneously. This development signifies a significant leap forward in providing ample educational resources for the nation.

During the inauguration, H.E. President Adama Barrow expressed his gratitude to the partners and co-financiers whose unwavering support made this visionary project a reality.

The president highlighted the pivotal role the University of The Gambia will play in cultivating a conducive environment for teaching and learning, ultimately shaping the nation’s human resource for sustainable development.
