Segonds’ Boot secures narrow victory for Stade Francais

In a gritty display under challenging conditions, fly-half Joris Segonds proved to be the hero for Stade Francais as they edged past Montpellier in a tense 12-10 victory, further solidifying their position atop the French Top 14 standings.

Despite a sluggish performance, the 26-year-old Frenchman showcased his kicking prowess, slotting three penalties and a drop-goal to clinch the win in greasy conditions.

The win sees Stade Francais extend their lead at the summit of the Top 14, now sitting seven points clear of defending champions Toulouse, who currently occupy second place in the league standings. Meanwhile, Montpellier’s woes continue as they languish in 13th place, firmly entrenched in the relegation playoff spot, having suffered their 12th defeat in 20 league games this season under the guidance of director of rugby Bernard Laporte.
