Bobi Wine extends Ramadan gesture, fosters unity with iftar dinner
In a gesture of solidarity and communal harmony, Ugandan human rights activist and opposition leader, Bobi Wine, continued his tradition of inclusivity by hosting an iftar dinner at Makerere-Kavule.
The event, held yesterday evening, brought together Muslim brothers and sisters observing the sacred month of Ramadan, alongside members of the Bwaise-Kavule community residing near Wine’s headquarters.
Notably, the gathering extended its hospitality to family members and relatives of individuals incarcerated on politically-motivated charges, as well as victims of state repression. Wine’s commitment to supporting these marginalized groups was evident as he provided much-needed assistance to help them navigate through the remaining days of Ramadan.
The inclusive nature of the event underscores Wine’s unwavering dedication to fostering unity and solidarity, particularly in the face of ongoing political tensions within Uganda. Amidst a backdrop of social and political strife, his gesture serves as a beacon of hope, emphasizing the importance of compassion and collective support during times of adversity.
As participants gathered to break their fast and offer prayers, Wine invoked the blessings of Allah SWT, expressing hope that their supplications would be heard. The iftar dinner not only provided nourishment for the body but also nourished the spirit of unity and resilience among those in attendance.
In a country grappling with issues of political repression and societal divisions, Bobi Wine’s outreach initiatives continue to resonate, amplifying voices of dissent and advocating for justice and equality. Through acts of compassion and solidarity, he strives to bridge divides and inspire positive change, embodying the spirit of resilience and community in the face of adversity.
