Egypt sets world record, Toshki’s 2.3 million palms boost date production

Egypt has officially set a new world record with the establishment of the largest palm farm at Toshki, featuring over 2.3 million palm trees.

With 80% of the trees now fully grown, the farm significantly boosts Egypt’s date production, contributing to the country’s 18% share in global date production.

The expansive Toshki farm, spanning approximately 40,000 acres, has been certified by Guinness World Records as the largest palm farm in the world. The Egyptian army has successfully planted 1.6 million palms out of the 2.5 million planned for the site. This ambitious project not only aims to increase date production but also to introduce new varieties to the market.

The farm has initiated its date harvest season, showcasing 18 new varieties planted for the first time in Egypt. These varieties are part of a diverse collection of 33 high-value types, with seedlings imported from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the United States. Additionally, an industrial area is being developed to support the farm’s operations, further cementing Toshki’s role in the agricultural sector.

This monumental achievement highlights Egypt’s commitment to enhancing its agricultural output and diversifying its date varieties, solidifying its position as a leading producer on the global stage.
