Davido thrills fans at Ethiopia’s New Year celebration with electrifying performance

Addis Ababa – Renowned Afrobeat artist Davido delighted thousands of fans in Addis Ababa during Ethiopia’s New Year celebration as the country ushered in 2017, according to the Ethiopian calendar. The singer’s performance, which took place on September 11, left the audience in high spirits as they celebrated the special occasion.

Ethiopia’s New Year is marked by a unique calendar system, the Ge’ez calendar, which is seven to eight years behind the Gregorian calendar used globally. This distinctive feature of the Ethiopian culture was embraced by Davido, who energized the celebration with his music.
