Uganda Airlines plans expansion with acquisition of new aircraft

Uganda Airlines is moving forward with plans to expand its fleet as part of a broader strategy to grow its presence across Africa and beyond. Shareholders are currently discussing options to acquire or lease additional aircraft to support this expansion.

Chief Executive Officer Jenifer Bamuturaki shared the airline’s vision during its inaugural flights to Harare, Zimbabwe, and Lusaka, Zambia. The plan includes adding mid-range aircraft with a capacity of around 170 passengers to increase frequency on African routes. Meanwhile, the airline’s Airbus will continue to serve its European destinations.

The acquisition of these new planes marks a significant step in Uganda Airlines’ expansion strategy, aiming to boost regional connectivity and enhance its competitiveness in both African and international markets.
