An independent candidate, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, caused a major upset in the Asante Akim North constituency, securing over 18,000 votes and surpassing the NPP incumbent Andy Appiah Kubi, who received 8,933 votes.

The elections also witnessed instances of tension, including power outages at two collation centers and arrests related to electoral misconduct. Police detained a polling agent for double voting and another individual for carrying a weapon at a polling station in the Western Region.
