Libyan police nab two Nigerians for kidnapping, extortion attempt

The Al-Qahira Police Department in Sabha, Libya, has arrested two Nigerian nationals for the alleged kidnapping of an African girl and attempting to extort money from her, Migrant Rescue Watch confirmed on Sunday.

The authorities successfully rescued the victim during a meticulously planned police operation, which also led to the apprehension of the two suspects.


CABS World News correspondent gathered that “Al-Qahira Police Dept. (Sabha) arrested 2 undocumented #migrants of Nigerian nationality responsible for kidnapping of an African girl and attempted extortion. Police during op successfully freed the victim and apprehended the perpetrators. Both accused were referred to public prosecution for legal action.”

The suspects have since been handed over to the public prosecution for further legal proceedings, underscoring Libya’s ongoing crackdown on criminal activities involving undocumented migrants.

This incident highlights the challenges faced by African migrants in Libya, with law enforcement agencies intensifying efforts to combat crimes against vulnerable groups.
