OIC Condemns Israel’s Approval of 22 New Settlements in Occupied Palestinian Territories

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a strong condemnation of the recent decision by Israeli occupation authorities to approve the construction of 22 new settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, calling it a “blatant violation of international law.”

In a statement released via its official channels, the OIC denounced the move as a continuation of Israel’s “colonial plans” aimed at altering the geographical and demographic reality in the region.

The organization emphasized that such actions are in direct contravention of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334 of 2016, which reaffirms the illegality of Israeli settlement activities in Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem.

“Such a decision is nothing but the continuation of its colonial plans, aiming to alter the geographical and demographic reality in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, which constitutes a blatant violation of international law and related United Nations resolutions,” the OIC stated.

The OIC called on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to take immediate and concrete steps to halt the ongoing expansion of Israeli settlements and to end the crimes of aggression, displacement, colonization, and famine committed by the occupation forces.

“The OIC reiterated its call on the international community, in particular the UN Security Council, to assume its responsibilities to put an end to the crimes of aggression, displacement, colonization and famine committed by the Israeli occupation, and to support efforts to implement UN Security Council Resolution 2334,” the statement concluded.

The OIC, comprising 57 member states, remains one of the largest intergovernmental organizations in the world, working to safeguard the interests of the Muslim world, especially in regard to the Palestinian cause.
