President Barrow Welcomes Shukran Capital Management Delegation for Groundbreaking Waste-2-Fuel Initiative

His Excellency, President Adama Barrow, today received a high-level delegation from Shukran Capital Management (SCM) Partners at State House.
The purpose of the visit was to present an innovative project proposal titled the “Waste-2-Fuel Project” – a transformative initiative that could redefine waste management and sustainable development in The Gambia.
The Waste-2-Fuel Project is designed to convert solid waste, used tires, commercial refuse, and other non-sewage waste into clean, renewable bio-oil using cutting-edge technological processes.
Additional by-products of the project will include compost for sustainable agricultural enrichment and recycled “green” plastics – all contributing to environmental sustainability.
“This project will significantly contribute to youth employment, economic development, sustainable agriculture, and the industrialisation of The Gambia,” the SCM team emphasized during the presentation.
They added that the initiative would also help mitigate health hazards and environmental degradation while promoting public health and environmental stewardship.
President Barrow, while expressing strong support for the initiative, gave assurances of his government’s commitment to improving waste management across the country.
“There is political will to address waste management as it impacts the image of the country and the development projects,” the President affirmed. He further encouraged SCM and relevant government officials to thoroughly assess the project’s viability and provide informed recommendations.
The SCM delegation was led by Modou Kabirr M. O. Faal, the company’s Executive Chairman and Goodwill Ambassador for The Gambia.
Other members of the team included Dr. Qutaiba Al Shaheen (Kuwait), Dr. Issam Jaber (Belgium and Kuwait), and Sven Luca Graebentiech (Germany).
They were accompanied by Ousainou Senghore, Executive Director of the Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GIEPA), underscoring the project’s investment and development significance.
The Waste-2-Fuel Project is poised to be a landmark move towards green industrialisation, aligning with The Gambia’s national development goals and global climate commitments.
