Nigeria, Egypt Sign Aviation Pact to Boost Bilateral Ties

In a landmark move to strengthen diplomatic and economic relations, the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Arab Republic of Egypt have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen cooperation in the aviation sector.

The agreement was reached following a detailed review of the Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) between the two nations. It is designed to foster technical collaboration, expand flight routes, encourage joint investment in civil aviation infrastructure, and enhance regional air connectivity and service delivery across Africa.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, described the development as a turning point in the partnership between both countries.

“The signing of this MOU is a historic milestone, signaling a new chapter of collaboration and shared prosperity between Nigeria and Egypt,” Keyamo said.

His Egyptian counterpart, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality shown by Nigeria and conveyed greetings from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to building stronger ties with Nigeria.

“We are grateful for the warm reception and convey greetings from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Egypt remains committed to strengthening our bilateral relations with Nigeria,” he stated.

The aviation MoU is expected to enhance the already strong commercial links between both countries, opening new frontiers for cooperation, trade, and investment in Africa’s rapidly growing aviation market.
