President of REFELA Africa congratulates new elected female regional chairperson

President of REFELA has congratulated Isatou O Jallow and Isatou M. Secka as they got elected as the first female regional chairpersons for Banjul Youth Committee and Kanifing Municipal Youth Committee.

According to her statement on the 4th of March, 2023.

“I wish to extend my hearty congratulations to Isatou O Jallow and Isatou M. Secka on their elections as the first female regional chairpersons for Banjul Youth Committee and Kanifing Municipal Youth Committee, respectively. I believe this is a victory for every young woman in The Gambia and I must commend the young people of Banjul and Kanifing Municipality for voting them in. I am very hopeful that they will represent the voices of the young people given their experience working on youth issues”.

She then said “As the President of REFELA Africa, (network of women locally elected representatives in Africa), I am very pleased to see more females getting elected in leadership positions because our objective is to ensure there is more participation of women in decision making processes”.

“I will like to call upon my fellow leaders to support them and engage them in activities concerning youth issues within their regions and equally urge young people to support them and their team in the implementation of their activities”.

“To the other contestants I urge you to continue your endless efforts to work and support the youth executives elect”.

“Once again, REFELA, The Gambia national chapter and by extension REFELA Africa are pleased to welcome you all and congratulate you as you assume your new responsibilities. We wish you all a successful tenure!”
