Ghanaian deacon kidnapped in South Africa dramatically rescued from church siege

In a daring operation, Ghanaian deacon Elder Emmanuel Cudjoe, who was abducted during a shocking church service invasion on Sunday, has been freed by authorities.

The incident occurred at the Church of Pentecost in Johannesburg, South Africa’s capital.


The dramatic rescue unfolded after a group of armed assailants stormed the church premises, brandishing weapons and demanding goods from terrified worshippers.

High Commissioner Charles Owiredu, representing Ghana in South Africa, confirmed that Elder Emmanuel Cudjoe was the victim in question.

The commissioner, who maintained discretion regarding the deacon’s release, announced the successful recovery on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

South Africa has witnessed a surge in violent robberies targeting places of worship, including temples, mosques, and churches, further escalating security concerns.

This alarming trend occurs within a nation known for its high crime rates, prompting government officials to promise decisive action to safeguard the safety of worshippers in the future.
