Yashasvi Jaiswal’s unstoppable double century sets England formidable target of 557

Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal roared back from an injury on day three to slam an unbeaten double century, propelling India to declare their second innings at 430-4 on day four of the third Test against England in Rajkot.

After retiring hurt on 104, the left-handed Jaiswal returned with a vengeance, hammering an astonishing 214 runs, forming a dominant partnership with debutant Sarfaraz Khan, who contributed 68 runs. Their unbeaten 172-run stand left the English bowlers struggling.

Facing a daunting victory target of 557, England ended the day at 18-2 at tea, losing openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley. The relentless pace of Jasprit Bumrah and a run-out added to the English team’s woes, leaving them with an uphill battle to save the Test.

Jaiswal’s exceptional innings included a momentous achievement – a second consecutive double century, reached in the second session with a single off Joe Root. His aggressive batting style, including three successive hits over the fence against James Anderson, left the crowd in awe.

As India eyes victory, they anticipate the return of Ravichandran Ashwin, who withdrew from the Test on day two due to a family emergency. His rejoining the team adds another layer of anticipation to the already gripping Test match.

Jaiswal’s heroics and India’s strong declaration have set the stage for an enthralling final day, where England will need a remarkable performance to avoid defeat in this gripping Test match.
