Adama Barrow, arrives in Dakar ahead of historic presidential inauguration

H.E. President Adama Barrow of The Gambia made a significant diplomatic stride as he arrived in Dakar on Monday afternoon, marking his presence ahead of the inauguration ceremony of President-Elect, H.E. Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

Senegalese Prime Minister, H.E. Sidike Kaba, extended a warm welcome to President Barrow upon his arrival at Yoff Airport, where he was also greeted by High Commissioner Hadrammeh Sidibeh, Gambian Embassy staff, and a delegation of Gambians residing in Senegal.

Notably, The Gambia’s Foreign Minister, Honourable Mamadou Tangara, joined the ranks of dignitaries in receiving President Barrow, emphasizing the significance of this diplomatic exchange.

President Barrow’s visit sets the stage for a momentous event scheduled for Tuesday, 2nd April 2024, where he will stand amongst over a dozen Heads of State and Government to witness the official ceremony where H.E. Macky Sall will formally hand over the presidency to his successor, H.E. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, ushering in a new era as the 5th President of the Republic of Senegal.

President Barrow’s attendance not only underscores the diplomatic ties between The Gambia and Senegal but also signifies a promising step towards further strengthening the fraternal and brotherly relationship shared between the two nations.

With his presence, President Barrow reinforces the commitment to mutual cooperation and solidarity, heralding a bright future of collaboration and unity between The Gambia and Senegal.
