President Barrow, Spanish Foreign Minister Bueno strengthen ties in key sectors
President Adama Barrow welcomed the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Honourable José Manuel Albares Bueno, at State House in Banjul.
The meeting focused on enhancing the strong bilateral relations between The Gambia and Spain, covering critical areas such as education, health, migration, security, and anti-crime efforts.
During their discussions, both leaders emphasized the importance of democracy, human rights, and adherence to due process.
President Barrow expressed gratitude to Honourable Bueno and the Kingdom of Spain, particularly appreciating the partnership aimed at transforming irregular migration into legal migration.
“Spain is committed to safe, regular, and humane migration, and the fight against human trafficking mafia,” stated Honourable Bueno.
Additionally, they explored ways to boost economic and business relations, highlighting mutual benefits for both nations.
Honourable Bueno acknowledged The Gambia’s stability in West Africa, noting its significance as a priority region for Spain.
