World Bank representative Feyi Boroffice exits Gambia after successful four-year term

Ms. Feyi Boroffice, the Resident Representative of the World Bank, has bidden a fond farewell to His Excellency President Adama Barrow after completing a successful four-year term in The Gambia.

The departure marks the end of an impactful tenure characterized by significant developmental strides and collaborative efforts between the World Bank and The Gambian government.


President Barrow expressed heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Boroffice for her pivotal role in the country’s development, highlighting the social projects supported by the World Bank during her tenure.

He acknowledged her contributions to budget support, energy, agriculture, health, and other sectors, crediting her efforts for stabilizing and advancing The Gambia’s economy.

Ms. Boroffice reciprocated the appreciation, commending the government’s commitment and support for World Bank initiatives. She noted that The Gambia had emerged as a regional standout in terms of development outcomes, thanks to fruitful partnerships and effective project implementation. She thanked President Barrow for his leadership and collaboration, emphasizing the transformative impact of infrastructure projects, particularly in enhancing service access across the country.

President Barrow reflected on the economic challenges faced at the start of his presidency in 2017 and expressed satisfaction with the current upward economic trend, citing a growth rate of 5.3%. He welcomed the World Bank’s continued support for road construction projects initiated under Ms. Boroffice’s leadership, highlighting their crucial role in linking communities and improving service delivery.

Honourable Seedy Keita, the Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs, praised Ms. Boroffice as a staunch ally of The Gambia and wished her success in her future endeavors. He underscored the positive economic indicators and growth outcomes achieved during her tenure, affirming her legacy as a catalyst for progress.

The meeting was attended by key government officials, including the Permanent Secretaries for Finance, Mr. Abdoulie Jallow and Mr. Baboucarr Jobe, along with World Bank staff, led by Kujeh Kah.

Ms. Boroffice’s departure marks the end of a transformative period in The Gambia’s development journey, characterized by strengthened partnerships and sustainable growth initiatives.
