Ashura: Mayor Lowe extends heartfelt greetings to Banjul, Muslim community
On the solemn occasion of the Day of Ashura, Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe of Banjul took to her Facebook page to share a heartfelt message with the people of Banjul and the global Muslim community.
Her post, imbued with a profound sense of spirituality and community, emphasized the importance of reflection, remembrance, and unity during this significant day in the Islamic calendar.
In her message, Mayor Lowe highlighted the deep historical and spiritual significance of the Day of Ashura, observed on the 10th of Muharram. “As the Mayor of Banjul, it is my honor to extend heartfelt greetings to the people of our beloved city and the entire Muslim Ummah on the solemn occasion of the Day of Ashura,” Mayor Lowe wrote. She called on the community to come together in peace and solidarity, embracing the teachings of compassion and charity inherent in Islam.
The mayor’s message was not only a call to remember the past but also a plea for collective prayer and goodwill towards the future.
“Let us also take this opportunity to pray for the well-being of our community, our nation, and the world,” she urged, emphasizing the universal need for blessings, peace, and prosperity.
Lowe wished everyone a reflective and peaceful Day of Ashura, signing off with a sincere note of goodwill: “Wishing you all a reflective and peaceful Day of Ashura.”
