In a display of military might and solidarity, Belarus showcased its nuclear-capable missile systems and unmanned aerial vehicles during an impressive Independence Day parade in the capital city of Minsk.

This year’s event held special significance as it marked the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Minsk from Nazi Germany during World War Two.

The parade featured troops from several former Soviet states, including Russia, which has been a key ally of Belarus. Attendees witnessed an array of military hardware, including advanced missile systems capable of carrying nuclear warheads, along with drones that have seen action in the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

Highlighting the regional camaraderie, Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov was a prominent participant in the event. His presence underscored the close military ties between Belarus and Russia. Additionally, delegations from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and even China attended the spectacle, further emphasizing the broad support and cooperative spirit among these nations.

The parade was not only a show of strength but also a poignant reminder of the historical sacrifices made during World War Two. The event paid homage to the resilience and bravery of those who fought to liberate Minsk from Nazi occupation, a pivotal moment in Belarusian history.

This year’s Independence Day celebrations in Belarus were a blend of remembrance, unity, and a clear message of military readiness, reflecting both past glories and present alliances.
