Gambia: President Barrow accepts resignation of minister, announces cabinet restructuring
President Adama Barrow of The Gambia has accepted the resignation of Honourable Haddy Jatou Sey, the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education.
The resignation, submitted for personal reasons, was officially accepted on July 12, 2024, under Section 71(4)(c) of the Constitution. President Barrow expressed his gratitude to Minister Sey for her dedicated service and extended his best wishes for her future endeavors.
Concurrently, the President has made changes to his cabinet, invoking Section 71(4)(b) of the Constitution. Ousman Bah, the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, has been relieved of his duties. During this transitional period, Professor Pierre Gomez, the Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Technology, will assume the additional responsibility of overseeing the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education. In a similar vein, Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, the Minister of Information, has been entrusted with overseeing the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy until further notice.
