Mayor Lowe represents Gambia at China-Africa Local Government Forum in Guangzhou

Mayor Malick Lowe of Banjul has shared her exhilarating experience from the 5th China-Africa Local Government Forum via her Facebook page.

Held in the city of Guangzhou, within the Guangdong Province, the forum brought together key figures and representatives from nearly all African nations to discuss pivotal issues affecting local governments.


The focus areas included green and digital innovation, industrial cooperation, and personnel training.

Leading The Gambia’s delegation was Hamat Bah, accompanied by the Governor of Lower River Region (LRR), Madam Ramou Sarr, and Mayor Lowe herself. The trio represented The Gambia with distinction, engaging in high-level discussions that have potential to foster significant development and collaboration.

Mayor Lowe expressed her profound gratitude towards the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) for their warm invitation and generous hospitality. She also extended heartfelt thanks to the People’s Republic of China and the Chinese Ambassador in The Gambia for their steadfast support to the people of Banjul and The Gambia at large.

Lowe highlighted that the forum has unlocked new opportunities for Banjul, paving the way for future collaborations and advancements. Special appreciation was also directed towards the City of Nanning for their unwavering support, particularly during the challenging times posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
