UAE launches first mobile clinic to support patients
The Dubai Police Academy played host to the inauguration of the UAE’s first mobile clinic dedicated to providing free consultations for Parkinson’s patients.
The initiative was officially launched by Sheikh Essa bin Abdullah Al Mualla, marking a significant advancement in healthcare accessibility for those affected by this neurological disorder.
The event brought together a distinguished group of local and international medical professionals specializing in Parkinson’s disease, signaling a collaborative commitment to improving patient care. This innovative mobile clinic is the result of a partnership between the People of Determination Empowerment Council of Dubai Police, Friends of Parkinson’s UAE, and notable experts like Dr. Vinod Metta and Professor Ray Chaudhuri from King’s Parkinson’s Centre of Excellence. The primary objective is to offer comprehensive support, including advice on disease management, promoting healthier lifestyles, and addressing memory and movement disorders.
During the launch, Sheikh Essa bin Abdullah Al Mualla praised the humanitarian initiative, highlighting the tireless efforts of Huzaifa Ibrahim, founder and chairman of Friends of Parkinson’s UAE. “This clinic is not merely a medical facility but a beacon of hope,” he remarked
“By offering free consultations and expert advice, we are making significant strides in supporting individuals with Parkinson’s.” He also called on the medical community to rally around these patients, underscoring the importance of community solidarity in overcoming challenges.
Major Abdullah Al Shamsi, head of the People of Determination Empowerment Council of Dubai Police, reinforced the initiative’s dedication to holistic support.
“Our objective is to create an environment where every patient feels medically and morally supported. This mobile clinic serves as a testament to our commitment to empowering Parkinson’s patients and ensuring they receive the care they deserve,” he stated.
Dr. Vinod Metta, a consultant neurologist at King’s College Hospital London and Dubai, elaborated on the clinic’s multidisciplinary approach to treatment, noting that effective care extends beyond medication.
“It involves a team of physical therapists, speech therapists, dietitians, and psychologists working collaboratively to enhance our patients’ quality of life,” he explained. This comprehensive strategy not only improves health outcomes but also strengthens the emotional bond between patients and their caregivers.
