Gabon launches campaign for constitutional referendum
The campaign for the constitutional referendum scheduled for November 16 has officially begun in Gabon, according to media reports.
Gabonese citizens are encouraged to vote either in favor of or against the proposed new constitution, which establishes a presidential system featuring a renewable seven-year term with the possibility of one extension.
Additionally, the new constitution suggests a transition from a semi-presidential system to a presidential one and limits the number of consecutive terms a president can serve to a maximum of two, among other significant changes, as reported by these sources.
The referendum campaign will conclude on November 15.
