In a press release issued by The Gambia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government extended “heartfelt congratulations and warmest wishes to the Government and the friendly people of Korea on this historic occasion.”

This anniversary highlights six decades of “enduring friendship, mutual respect, and fruitful cooperation” between the two nations. Their partnership, which has grown stronger over the years, is deeply rooted in shared values such as peace, sustainable development, and a commitment to multilateralism.

The Gambia used the occasion to express its “profound appreciation for the Republic of Korea’s steadfast support and technical cooperation across strategic sectors including education, health, agriculture, and institutional capacity development.” Notably, the statement praised Korea’s vital support for The Gambia’s Transitional Justice process, describing it as “a significant symbol of solidarity and a deep commitment to democratic governance and reconciliation.”

Looking ahead, The Gambia reaffirmed its dedication to expanding bilateral ties, stating, “The Ministry remains confident that this enduring partnership will continue to yield mutual benefits and advance the shared aspirations of our peoples for prosperity, peace, and sustainable development.”

The government concluded by expressing optimism for the future, emphasizing its eagerness “to further strengthen the ties of cooperation and friendship in the years ahead.”
