Mushin Stands Still as APC Drums Support for Candidates Ahead of LG Polls

Mushin came alive on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) staged a massive show of force in a mega rally that brought activities in the area to a halt. The event was part of the party’s final push toward the July 12 local government elections.
The atmosphere was electric as party stalwarts, traditional leaders, residents, and loyalists poured into the heart of Mushin to show support for all APC Candidates in the local government, most notably the chairmanship candidate, Hon. Haruna Olatunbosun Aruwe, and his running mate, Hon. Semiu Ishola Karaole.
A high point of the rally was the ceremonial presentation of party flags by Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon to all the candidates—a gesture loaded with political symbolism and unity.
The senator, a respected political figure and GAC member, used the opportunity to warn party members against distractions from rival formations.
“Don’t let any new coalition confuse you,” he cautioned. “Stay focused. The APC government, especially under Asiwaju, is delivering benefits we last saw during Awolowo’s time. This same ground was once used by Awolowo to raise the flag of progress. Let’s stay the course.”
Senator Solomon further urged voters to remain vigilant on election day. “Vote and stay. Let’s count our votes ourselves to stop any foul play.”
Also speaking, Hon. Olayinka Kazeem of the Lagos State House of Assembly (Mushin II) rallied the crowd around Hon. Aruwe’s track record. “He’s not new to leadership. His past achievements speak volumes. We know he’ll do even more this time.”
From another perspective, the rally also served as an avenue to remind Mushin residents of the developmental strides made under APC’s leadership. Aremo Michael Kufisile, former APC LGA Chairman and Chair of the rally’s organizing committee, framed the event as both a celebration and a call to action.
“This isn’t just a campaign show,” Kufisile explained. “We’ve delivered over 93 roads, we’ve improved healthcare, and we’re offering free treatments right now—over 100 residents are currently benefiting. The APC isn’t making promises, we’re showing results.”
Also addressing the crowd was Hon. Oluwatoyin Moses Fayinka of the Federal House of Representatives (Mushin II), who highlighted the depth and diversity of the party’s candidates.
“The trust being shown here is real. The people believe in our candidates, and that’s what will drive us forward after the elections,” he charged the crowd.
Mushin APC Chairman, Alhaji Adisa Babatunde Shittabey, described the party as more unified than ever, boldly predicting a landslide win. “This is our time. APC in Mushin is ready, united, and strong. We will deliver.”
APC Woman Leader in the area, Alhaja Muyinat Mustapha, praised the women’s grassroots mobilization. “We’ve been on the streets, in the markets, knocking on doors. Women are the force behind this campaign.”
For the incumbent Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Olanrewaju Bamigboye, the rally was confirmation of APC’s dominance. “We’re not just going to win—we’ll win big. We want Mushin to deliver the highest vote count in Lagos.”
The rally attracted a strong mix of political heavyweights and traditional leaders, underscoring the significance of the event in Mushin political landscape.
Among those in attendance was Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, the APC Apex Leader for Mushin and Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, who played a central role in the day’s activities. Also present was Hon. Bolaji Yussuf Ayinla, a former member of the Federal House of Representatives and the Mandate Leader in Mushin.
The event also drew current legislators representing the area—Hon. Oluwatoyin Fayinka at the federal level and Hon. Olayinka Kazeem in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Adding to the presence of high-ranking figures was Dr. (Mrs.) Iyabode Ayoola, Special Adviser on Central Internal Audit, as well as Hon. Toyin Aremu, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation.
The traditional institution was represented by His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikirulahi Williams Osu Apena, the Oba of Odi-Olowo Kingdom. Hon. O.J. Falana, a Board Member of LASUBEB, was also among the dignitaries at the rally.
Key grassroots figures, including LOC members, party executives, and ward leaders, were also in attendance, affirming the party’s widespread support structure ahead of the elections.
With such an extensive mobilization effort and a united front, the APC appears poised to dominate the Mushin polls, aiming for nothing short of a sweeping victory on July 12.
