OIC Banjul summit prepares to make history, all eyes on Gambia
Key officials have provided a glimpse into the preparations for the forthcoming Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit set to take place in Banjul, The Gambia. This historic gathering will bring together representatives from all 57 member states, making it one of the largest intergovernmental assemblies in the world.
Ambassador Yankuba Dibba, Chief Executive Officer of The Gambia OIC Secretariat, underscored the significance of this momentous event, confirming the arrival of delegates from across the globe.
He expressed The Gambia’s unwavering commitment to ensuring a seamless and comfortable experience for all attendees in the picturesque setting of the Smiling Coast of Africa.
Lassana Tunkara, Chairman of the LOC Media Subcommittee, spoke passionately about the pride felt by the Gambian people in hosting such a prestigious summit.
“The OIC Islamic Summit is the second Largest Intergovernmental gathering in the world,” he noted, highlighting the extensive preparations that have gone into organizing the event.
Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, Minister of Information, emphasized the summit’s focus on pivotal topics such as women, youth, and security, pointing to the importance of these discussions in shaping the future agenda of the OIC.
Nfally Fadera, Head of Brand and Communication, provided insights into the successful Senior Officials Meeting held earlier this week, praising The Gambia for exceeding expectations in its preparations. With over 40 distinguished guests expected to attend, including VVIPs and VIPs, Fadera urged for a warm and dignified welcome, aligning with The Gambia’s renowned hospitality.
