African village king Oba Adefunmi killed in South Carolina
Oba Adejuyigbe Adefunmi II, the revered monarch of Oyotunji African Village, has been allegedly stabbed to death by his sister during a heated argument in South Carolina, United States.
The 47-year-old king was rushed to a nearby hospital after the incident but succumbed to his wounds shortly after arrival.
The altercation occurred at Oyotunji African Village in Beaufort County, a community known for preserving and celebrating African culture and traditions.
According to WJCL, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a stabbing report at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Monday. Upon arriving at the scene on Bryant Lane, authorities found Oba Adefunmi critically injured.
The suspect, identified as 53-year-old Akiba Kasale Meredith, fled the scene on foot following the tragic incident. She was located a short time later, taken into custody, and charged with murder. Meredith is currently being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center.
