Amaobi Precious, the best graduating student of Global Wealth University, Lomé, Togo, has been awarded 1 million CFA (approximately N2.7 million) by the PCI Foundation, led by Prof. Chris Imumolen, during the university’s 2024 convocation ceremony.
The ceremony, which took place in both Togo and Ghana, with Nigeria’s event scheduled for next week, marked a moment of celebration and recognition of academic excellence. Amaobi, who studied on a tuition-free scholarship, expressed her gratitude for the unexpected cash prize.
“I never expected it. This cash prize is such a pleasant surprise. I am incredibly grateful to Prof. Imumolen and the university for making this possible,” she said.
Encouraging fellow students, Amaobi shared, “Excellence comes with hard work, dedication, and a strong sense of purpose. I urge all students to stay committed and not lose sight of their goals, no matter the challenges.”
Prof. Chris Imumolen, the founder of PCI Foundation and Vice Chancellor of Global Wealth University, emphasized the importance of equipping students with leadership and professional skills to address Africa’s unique challenges.
“The world is facing economic crises and technological disruptions, with many nations advancing toward the fourth industrial revolution. In Africa, we need leaders who are prepared to tackle these challenges,” he stated.
Highlighting the institution’s mission, he added, “We are not only preparing our students to excel academically but also ensuring they acquire top-notch professional skills. Our curriculum integrates professional training, preparing graduates to be solution providers, not just job seekers.”
Prof. Imumolen also unveiled plans to support entrepreneurial ventures among graduates by providing access to funding.
“This initiative is part of our commitment to equipping graduates with the resources needed to build impactful careers and contribute to Africa’s development,” he concluded.
