Morocco Ramps Up Sports Infrastructure Ahead of AFCON and 2030 World Cup

As Africa prepares to take center stage in global football, Morocco is making bold strides to transform its sports landscape with massive infrastructure projects ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the highly anticipated 2030 FIFA World Cup, which the country will co-host.
“We are building for the future — not just for AFCON or the World Cup, but for generations of Moroccan athletes and fans,” a senior official from Morocco’s Ministry of Sports stated.
At the heart of this transformation is the construction of a colossal 115,000-seat stadium near Casablanca — a landmark project that, upon completion, will become the largest stadium in the world. It is envisioned not only as a sports venue but as a cutting-edge symbol of Moroccan innovation, architecture, and technological capability.
“This stadium is more than concrete and steel. It is a message to the world that Morocco is ready to host, lead, and inspire through sports,” the official added.
