Nigerian Fighting for Russian Military Captured by Ukrainian Forces
A Nigerian man, Kehinde Oluwagbemileke, who had been fighting for the Russian military in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, has been captured by Ukrainian forces.
According to Ukraine’s “I Want to Live” project, Oluwagbemileke was apprehended by the Freedom of Russia Legion—a unit of Russian fighters aligned with Ukraine.
The 29-year-old was captured in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region after reportedly serving with Russian forces for five months.
The project also revealed that Oluwagbemileke had lived in Russia for four years before being arrested on drug-related charges.
